The project is being delivered by the Queensland Government (through the Department of Transport and Main Roads), in partnership with the Australian Government and Gold Coast City Council.
Gold Coast Rapid Transit has secured funding commitments, from three levels of government (local, state and federal). These funds will deliver Stage One of the system, which is the priority route from Griffith University (Parklands Drive, Southport) to Broadbeach. This 13km dedicated light rail corridor will service the new Gold Coast University Hospital, Griffith University, Southport medical precinct, as well as the fast growing commercial, retail and recreational centres of Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. There are 16 stations planned for the Stage One corridor.
